The fantasy-action film Kanguva, starring Suriya and Bobby Deol, is set to make its streaming debut on Prime Video on December 8, 2024. Directed by Siva and produced by K.E. Gnanavelraja’s Studio Green and UV Creations, the film was initially released in theaters on November 14, 2024.

The movie, which also features Disha Patani in a significant role, takes the audience through an action-packed period fantasy with stunning visuals and intense sequences. Despite the film’s impressive production values, it received mixed to negative feedback from critics and viewers, with many criticizing its writing, direction, and screenplay. The film's strong action scenes and visual effects were among the few aspects praised.

Kanguva follows the story of Suriya in a double role, set across two different timelines. While the film's ambitious storytelling and grand budget of Rs 350 crore sparked interest, it underperformed at the box office, grossing only Rs 106.25 crore worldwide. With a net collection of just Rs 70 crore in India, it has been labeled one of the biggest flops in recent Indian cinema history.

Despite its disappointing performance, the makers had previously announced a sequel, Kanguva 2. However, given the film's commercial failure, it seems uncertain whether the sequel will move forward.

For its OTT release, Kanguva will be available in its original Tamil version, as well as dubbed versions in Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. However, no information has been provided about a Hindi-dubbed version.

Suriya's brother, Karthi, also makes a cameo in the film, playing a double role. Directed by Siva, the movie’s production team includes KE Gnanavelraja, V Vamsi Krishna Reddy, and Pramod Uppalapati under their respective banners, Studio Green and UV Creations.
