Kangana Ranaut's new film 'Emergency' has been mired in controversies. Sikh organizations are opposing the release of this film, due to which the film has not yet received a certificate from the censor board. Due to this reason, the release date of the film has also been postponed. Earlier this film was scheduled to release on September 6, but now it has been postponed.
Kangana Ranaut is very sad due to the postponement of the film's release date. She has expressed her feelings in a post on her X (formerly Twitter) account. She wrote,
"With a heavy heart, I announce that my directorial film 'Emergency' has been postponed. We are still waiting for the certificate from the censor board. The new release date will be announced soon. Thank you for your patience and understanding."
The film's co-producer Zee Entertainment Enterprises had approached the Bombay High Court for the release of the film and the censor certificate. He had appealed to the court to direct the censor board to issue the certificate of the film as soon as possible so that the release of the film is not delayed further.
The case was heard by a bench of Justice Burgess Colaballa and Justice Firdaus Pooniwala. However, the court refused to give directions to issue a certificate. The court said that it cannot give any order which violates the order of the Madhya Pradesh High Court.
The Bombay High Court has directed the Censor Board to decide the certificate of the film 'Emergency' by 18 September. Along with this, the court has also reprimanded the Censor Board. Now the next hearing of this case will be on 19 September. Then it will be seen what decision comes on the release of the film.
It is worth noting that Jabalpur High Court had already banned the release of this film, due to which the release of the film which was to be released on 6th September has now been postponed.
The film 'Emergency' is a political drama based on the life of former Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi. As soon as the trailer of the film was released, many Sikh organizations started protesting against it. Shiromani Akali Dal and some Sikh organizations allege that this film has been deliberately made to tarnish the image of the Sikh community. The film has also been accused of misrepresenting and tampering with many historical events.
Kangana Ranaut has not only directed the film 'Emergency', but she has also played the lead role of Indira Gandhi in it. Apart from this, Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhary, Shreyas Talpade, and Milind Soman have also played important roles in the film. Earlier this film was going to be released on 6 September, but now its release has been postponed due to certificate and court decisions.
