U.S: In the lead-up to the 2024 US presidential elections scheduled for November 5, Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee, has shortlisted two candidates for her vice-presidential pick. On Monday, it was reported that Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz are the final contenders for the role.

Insider sources revealed to Reuters that Harris is close to finalizing her choice between Shapiro and Walz. Harris has already secured enough delegates to be the Democratic nominee, but a "virtual roll call" will be conducted to confirm her nomination officially.

Harris plans to make her first public appearance with her chosen running mate on Tuesday evening at Temple University in Philadelphia, indicating that an announcement is imminent. In a message to her supporters late Monday, Harris mentioned she had not yet made her decision. She expressed her desire to keep her grassroots supporters informed about the campaign's progress, emphasizing the importance of transparency.

Harris stated, "I know many of you are eager to find out who I will be selecting to join me on the campaign trail, and hopefully in the White House, as my Vice President." She added, "It is important to me that grassroots supporters—like you—have direct updates about the state of the race."
