New Delhi: Leaders from the Janata Dal (Secular) or JD(S) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are set to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah to deliberate on the BJP-JD(S) alliance in the state, in preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Originally scheduled for Thursday, the meeting had to be postponed due to the late-night session in Parliament, prompted by the introduction of the Women's Reservation Bill.

In the interim, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant paid a visit to the residence of former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda to engage in discussions regarding the alliance. The primary focus of these discussions was the potential allocation of the Hassan, Mandya, and Tumkur constituencies to the JD(S) by the BJP. This visit aimed to clarify seat allocation in advance of the meeting with Amit Shah, and it is anticipated that the BJP's proposal to relinquish these three constituencies will gain the JD(S)' approval.

Prior to these developments, a meeting convened at HD Kumaraswamy's residence in Sapdharganj, which included HD Revanna, MP Prajwal Revanna, former MLA Sa Ra Mahesh, and Nikhil Kumaraswamy. During this meeting, the parties outlined their alliance strategy, identified key issues to raise with Amit Shah concerning the alliance, and pinpointed areas for which the JD(S) should request constituency allocation. The forthcoming meeting with Amit Shah holds significant importance, as both parties have pledged to unite against the Congress alliance in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.
