Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Samagra Shiksha launched an application for "out-of-school children." The 'Talaash' app is for mainstreaming and tracking OOSC which was launched on Friday. This mobile application is launched by J-K Samagra Shiksha Project Director Dr Arun Manhas.
The official said that the OOSC program is aiming to enumerate and keep track of OOSC in a timely manner through intensive data analysis and monitoring. The official further described that it includes a web-based and a mobile application for data collection and tracking of out-of-school children and a dashboard for reporting purposes. The application is for teachers and others which will also promote effective monitoring and tracking of out-of-school children. The Union territory has an estimated 27,500 OOSC. It is comprised of two categories; never enrolled and dropouts.
At the launch of app, Dr Manhas said mainstreaming of out-of-school children was one of the priorities of the Ministry of Education which could be facilitated by this technology.
