Historical Context and Election Insights
The 2014 Assembly elections saw the PDP securing 28 seats, the BJP with 25, the National Conference with 15, and Congress with 12. A coalition government led by Mufti Mohammed Sayeed was formed between the PDP and BJP. However, the BJP withdrew support in 2018 after Sayeed's death and Mehbooba Mufti's leadership.

This upcoming election is significant as it will be the first assembly poll since the abrogation of Article 370. Recent Lok Sabha elections showed strong support for the BJP in Jammu, while the National Conference also performed well.

Votes from this phase will be counted on October 4.
