Israeli tanks have pushed deeper into Gaza's Rafah, reaching residential districts as civilians flee once again. The offensive intensifies in the southern border city where over a million people sought shelter during seven months of war.

Despite international warnings of a potential humanitarian catastrophe, Israel persists in its ground incursion into Rafah. Qatar's Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani expressed concern, stating that Israel's operations in Rafah are undermining ceasefire efforts mediated by Qatar and Egypt.

Israel continues its offensive, aiming to root out four remaining Hamas battalions in the city. Witnesses report tanks advancing into residential neighborhoods, leading to clashes.

Hamas's armed wing claims to have destroyed an Israeli troop carrier in the eastern Al-Salam neighborhood. Israel has not immediately responded to this claim.

Evacuation orders have been issued for parts of eastern Rafah, with people being directed to move to designated areas, including Al-Mawasi, a strip of land bordering the coast. However, aid agencies warn that these areas lack sufficient facilities to accommodate the displaced population.

UNRWA estimates that around 450,000 people have fled Rafah since May 6, facing exhaustion, hunger, and fear. The agency emphasizes the dire situation, stating, "Nowhere is safe."

Violence has escalated across Gaza, with the death toll rising. Gaza health officials report over 35,000 Palestinian deaths in the war, with 82 fatalities in the past 24 hours alone. The conflict has also claimed the life of a foreign UN security staff member in Rafah.

Israel launched its operation in Gaza following a devastating attack on October 7 by Hamas-led gunmen, resulting in numerous casualties and hostages.

The conflict has led to intense gun battles between Israeli forces and Palestinian gunmen, particularly in the densely populated enclave. In Gaza City's Zeitoun neighborhood, houses are demolished to make way for military operations. In Jabalia, a refugee camp in northern Gaza, residents report heavy tank shelling as Israeli forces aim to reach the local market.
