In Houston, Texas, a 52-year-old man of Indian descent, Bobby Singh, has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a 21-year-old Nepali student named Muna Pandey. Singh is accused of killing Pandey during a robbery at her apartment, as reported by local authorities.

Police discovered Pandey's body on Monday around 5:30 p.m. She had sustained multiple gunshot wounds inside her apartment. The staff at the apartment complex had alerted authorities after receiving an anonymous tip about the incident. When officers arrived, they found Pandey already deceased.

Surveillance footage captured Singh leaving the apartment complex on Saturday. Following this lead, police apprehended him later that day during a traffic stop and charged him with murder.

Pandey had relocated from Nepal to Houston in 2021 to study at Houston Community College. Friends and family have reported that her mother had been unable to contact her for several days. According to a source, Pandey's phone had been online until Saturday night, after which it went silent. The source also mentioned that Pandey was found with three gunshot wounds while lying on her bed.

In response to the tragedy, the Nepal Consulate and the Nepalese Association of Houston are coordinating efforts to arrange travel for Pandey's mother to Houston. A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to support these arrangements and cover funeral expenses. The campaign has raised nearly $30,000 to date.

The police revealed that Shah was apprehended on Wednesday evening during a traffic stop in northwest Houston. The arrest was part of a coordinated operation involving the Houston Police Department's SWAT team, the Crime Reduction Unit, and the Texas Department of Public Safety. Following his arrest, Shah was booked into the Harris County Jail.

A booking photo of Shah has been released as part of the ongoing investigation. Authorities are continuing to work on the case to ensure justice for Pandey and her family.
