Tuscaloosa, Alabama: An Indian-origin doctor, Dr. Ramesh Babu Peramsetty, was fatally shot in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, on August 23. The 38-year-old doctor, known for his significant contributions to medicine, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Dr. Peramsetty, originally from Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, India, was a prominent figure in the medical community. He was the founder and medical director of the Crimson Network, a group of local medical professionals. In addition to his role with the network, he practiced medicine in Tuscaloosa and was celebrated for his dedication to healthcare.

The Crimson Care Network, where Dr. Peramsetty was deeply involved, issued a statement regarding his death. They asked for privacy for his family during this difficult time and expressed their appreciation for the support they have received.

The statement read, "We kindly request that you keep the Peramsetty family and our team at Crimson Care Network in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate this challenging time. We will provide further updates in the coming days and remain committed to honoring Dr. Peramsetty's legacy. Our clinics will continue to operate normally, ensuring uninterrupted care for our community."

Dr. Peramsetty was an esteemed physician with a career spanning 38 years. He earned his degrees from the Medical College of Wisconsin and Sri Venkateswara Medical College in 1986. He specialized in Emergency Medicine and Family Medicine, and had connections with the Diploma in Child Health Regional Medical Center.

Locally, a street in Tuscaloosa was named in his honor due to his impactful work in medicine. Dr. Peramsetty was actively involved in the fight against COVID-19 and received numerous awards for his efforts. He is survived by his wife, two sons, and two daughters, who all reside in the US.

In addition to his professional achievements, Dr. Peramsetty was known for his philanthropic contributions. He donated ₹14 lakh to Menakuru High School in Andhra Pradesh, his alma mater, and supported the construction of a Sai temple in his village in Andhra Pradesh.
