New Delhi: Now trains will run with the power of solar power on the tracks of Indian Railways. Railways have also completed preparations for this. The Railways has set up a solar power plant in Bina, Madhya Pradesh as part of its pilot project, which can generate 1.7 megawatts of electricity and preparations are on to run trains with this power.
Railways claim that this is the first time in the history of the world when solar energy will be used to run trains. The specialty of this power plant is that 25 thousand volts of electricity will be generated from here, which will be transferred on the overhead of direct railways and trains will be operated with the help of this. A 1.7 MW capacity solar power plant has been set up in Bina in Madhya Pradesh in collaboration with BHEL on vacant railway land. There is no such power plant in the whole world so that the train can be run. Other railway networks in the world use solar energy primarily to meet the electricity needs of stations, residential colonies, and offices.
Indian Railways have also installed solar power panels on the roof of some coaches, due to which electricity is being supplied in the train coaches. But till now, no railway network has used solar energy to operate trains.
