The Indian Embassy in Beijing has asked the concerned students and their parents to refer to earlier advisories regarding the issue after learning that Indian medical students studying in China have questions about their ability to appear in the qualifying examination held by the National Medical Commission (NMC). Any student who enrols in the clinical medicine programme in China after November 2021 and fails to receive a licence to practise medicine in China will be disqualified from taking the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination, according to the statement.

According to a press release from the Embassy dated November 7 and NMC notification dated November 18, 2021, foreign medical graduates must be "registered with the respective professional regulatory body or otherwise, competent to grant licence to practise medicine in their respective jurisdiction of the country in which the medical degree is awarded and at par with the licence to practise medicine given to citizen of that country"

The Embassy added that they have informed the relevant Chinese authorities and medical schools of the situation and have asked them to make sure that all Indian students coming to China for clinical medicine programmes are given the necessary instruction, training, and support to enable them to meet the aforementioned NMC requirements. In addition, the Embassy stated that they have contacted the relevant Chinese authorities regarding the question of whether Indian students who complete their medical education in China but do not receive a medical practitioner licence in China may work in Chinese hospitals in a capacity such as "assistant doctor"

The embassy said, "Another related question was whether Indian students who completed their medical education in China but did not obtain a medical practitioner licence in China could work in Chinese hospitals in a capacity such as 'assistant doctor' in order to enable them to earn a living and repay education loans. The Embassy has formally contacted the appropriate Chinese authorities to inquire about the availability of such a choice. When the Embassy receives information from the Chinese side, it will post it on its social media accounts.
