PANAJI: The Goods and Service Tax (GST) has revolutionised tax collecting and is guiding India toward progress and development, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday, September 20.
"The GST has changed how the nation collects taxes and conducts business. Prime Minister Narendra Modi's groundbreaking tax reform has stabilised India and is guiding it toward growth and development " the chief minster Sawant said.
The CM was speaking after starting a two-day workshop for the Goa Commercial Taxes Department officers to strengthen their capacities. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), New Delhi, organised it.
"Officers from Goa are receiving instruction from ICAI specialists. It will aid in the convenience of doing business in addition to tax collection. Getting trained can assist taxpayers to tackle various issues," the chief minister added.
He also applauded the ICAI's efforts in conceptualizing and organising the programme.
The Chief minister declared that the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and the GST department will soon sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for ongoing training to strengthen the tax department. "With this, our officers will receive ongoing training, which will assist them in collecting taxes and resolving taxpayer difficulties," he said.
