Chennai: Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) had emerged as the best institute in India, securing the top rank in National Institutional Rankings Framework (NIRF) Ranking 2021.  

It is for the third consecutive year,  that IIT Madras has secured the top spot. IIT Madras has been ranked number one in India in 'Overall' and 'Engineering' category in NIRF Rankings 2021. IITs have again scored big in the list with as many as seven IITs securing a spot in the list.

In the sixth edition of the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) announced by Union Education Dharmendra Pradhan, eight IITs and two national Institutes of Technology (NITs) figured in the top ten engineering institutions in the country.

The other ranking goes for the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad as the best B-School, while Jamia Hamdard was declared the top institution for pharmacy studies. In the colleges category, Miranda House in Delhi secured the first rank followed by Lady Sri Ram College for Women, Delhi and Loyola College, Chennai. As per the NIRF ranking, AIIMS Delhi has bagged the top spot among medical colleges followed by PGIMER Chandigarh and Christian Medical College, Vellore.
