Hyundai Motor has unveiled a teaser for its much-awaited all-electric Ioniq 9 SUV, generating excitement ahead of its official launch next month. The teaser showcases the Ioniq 9’s sleek design and the three-row SUV’s large silhouette, hinting at its robust yet elegant exterior. Featuring an extended wheelbase, the design is said to draw inspiration from the cozy interiors of boats.
This new model marks Hyundai’s entry into the large electric SUV category, making the Ioniq 9 the largest vehicle in the automaker’s all-electric Ioniq lineup.
Coinciding with this announcement, Hyundai celebrates a major milestone in its journey: reaching 100 million units in global cumulative production. Hyundai recently delivered its 100 millionth vehicle—a custom Ioniq 5—to a customer in a special handover ceremony, underscoring the company’s growth since its founding 57 years ago.
Chang Jae-hoon, Hyundai’s president and CEO, expressed gratitude to Hyundai’s global customers, saying that reaching this production milestone was made possible by their continued support. Hyundai’s Ulsan Plant, operational since 1968, remains a pivotal site in the brand’s growth and is currently being expanded with a dedicated EV facility to strengthen Hyundai’s position in the electric vehicle market.
Hyundai’s global expansion has been marked by additional production plants in key markets, including Turkey, India, the United States, and the Czech Republic. These facilities have played a crucial role in Hyundai’s rise, with the company surpassing 50 million vehicles produced back in 2013—a testament to its rapid global growth.
