JAIPUR: In a fervent push ahead of the November 25 elections, a surge of Indian Overseas Congress (IOC) members has converged on Rajasthan over the past fortnight. Their mission: to bolster support for the Ashok Gehlot-led government, vying for a consecutive term. The campaign efforts, culminating on Thursday evening, have seen hundreds of overseas Congress members engaging extensively across the state.
Rajasthan, a battleground in the lead-up to the Assembly polls, has experienced a whirlwind of political fervor. Notable figures from both the BJP and Congress, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, alongside others, have spearheaded high-profile campaigning endeavors.
During the past two weeks, scores of Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) have made their way back to the state, immersing themselves in door-to-door canvassing. Their primary goal: to relay the accomplishments of the Congress government during its tenure to every household.
These NRIs, driven by their commitment to highlight the strides made by the Congress government in Rajasthan, voluntarily returned to their home state.
A spokesperson for the IOC emphasized that these overseas delegates are emphasizing the fulfillment of the ten promises made by the Congress government in 2018. They are also underlining the impact of the seven guarantees in their bid to secure support once again.
Campaign activities led by the IOC members have spanned various districts, including Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Jaipur, Bikaner, Udaipur, among others. Their efforts have involved engaging with the business community to disseminate the achievements of the Congress administration.
The polling for the 200-member Assembly is slated for November 25, with vote counting scheduled for December 3.
With its sights set on a consecutive term, the Congress party aims to maintain its foothold in the desert state, which has witnessed a tradition of alternating party governments over the last three decades.
