Aman Sehrawat faced a big challenge after his semifinal loss on Thursday. Weighing 61.5 kg, he was 4.5 kg over the limit set for the men's 57 kg category. Learning from Vinesh Phogat's disqualification experience, Aman and his coaches embarked on an intensive weight loss plan. Aman Sehrawat made a rapid effort to lose weight and won the bronze medal. This mission was started by Aman and his coaches together. India's senior coaches Jagmander Singh and Virender Dahiya played a key role in the process. After losing to Japan's Rei Higuchi, Aman had no time to waste.

Aman's weight loss process began with an hour-and-a-half mat session, focusing on standing wrestling. This was followed by an hour-long hot water bath session. At 12:30 am, Aman headed to the gym where he sweated it out by running on the treadmill for an hour. Following this, Aman had five sessions of five-minute sauna baths, followed by a 30-minute break. Despite all these efforts, Aman was still 900 grams over the weight limit. To lose the remaining weight, Aman was massaged and indulged in light jogging, followed by five 15-minute running sessions. By 4:30 am, Aman weighed 56.9 kg, 100 grams less than the limit.

During these sessions, Aman consumed warm water with lemon and honey and a little coffee. That night Aman did not sleep and watched videos of wrestling matches. Coach Virendra Dahiya said, "We kept checking Aman's weight every hour. We did not sleep the whole night and could not sleep during the day either."

After Vinesh Phogat was recently disqualified in the 50kg category final for being 100 grams overweight, the tension was evident in Aman and his coaches. "Weight loss is a routine process for us but we were very stressed because of what happened to Vinesh. We couldn't afford to miss out on another medal," coach Dahiya said. Aman's hard work and determination paid off when he won the bronze medal on Friday, beating Puerto Rico's Darian Cruz. The win made Aman India's youngest Olympic medallist.
