Heavy rains in Nagaland's Chumoukedima district caused floods, damaging several houses and a large stretch of National Highway-29. One person died and several others are missing in the incident. According to officials, the incident took place on Tuesday night when torrential rains in the Ferima area led to floods and swept away houses located along the road.

Officials said the Chumoukedima district administration is assessing the situation and a search operation has been launched to trace the missing people. A portion of National Highway-29, which connects the capital Kohima to Dimapur, has been completely washed away.
Reactions of Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister
Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio said on social media that the state government is talking to the central government for relief and rescue operations. He said that he is very concerned about the massive damage on NH-29 and officials are trying to handle the situation. The state government has contacted the Government of India and is making efforts to restore normalcy as soon as possible. Rio informed about maintaining contact with the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL). Deputy Chief Minister T.R. Zeliang said that he was deeply saddened to know about this unfortunate disaster near Ferima and Pagla Pahad.
