The Ministry of National Highways and Transport has started collecting toll tax in the country through GPS system. Currently, it is running on hybrid mode only on Haryana's Panipat-Hisar National Highway 709. Not only this, if your vehicle reaches the national highway in GPS toll tax, then you will be able to travel only up to 20 km without money.

GPS toll tax is going to be imposed on selective vehicles only. What changes do you have to make in your vehicle for this? We are also telling you here about the problems that may arise in GPS toll tax.

What is GPS toll tax?: The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has also named this system as Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS). This system can collect toll tax on national highways and expressways on the lines of 'pay as you use' basis. In this toll system, your GNSS-equipped vehicle will be able to run for free only for 20 km. As soon as your vehicle completes a journey of 20 km, toll tax will start being levied.

Benefits of GNSS toll system: In the Global Navigation Satellite System, you will be able to pay toll tax only to the extent your vehicle is running on the National Highway or Expressway. Along with this, the real time location of your vehicle can also be known due to this system. At the same time, you will get relief from the jam at the toll tax booth.

Disadvantages of GNSS Toll System: Not only this, Global Navigation Satellite System has as many disadvantages as it has advantages. There may be signal problems in tunnel and ghat sections in GNSS toll system. This system will be completely dependent on satellite signal. In such a situation, there may be problems in bad weather. Along with this, GNSS will track the movement of the vehicle, which will increase privacy concerns even more.

Fastag will work now: According to the information, the GNSS toll system has been started on a trial basis for now. In such a situation, toll tax will be collected only through Fastag. Fastag works on Radio Frequency Identification or RFID technology. Through this technology, the cameras installed at the toll plaza scan the bar code of the sticker and the toll fee is automatically deducted from the Fastag wallet.
