AMARAVATI: The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet authorised the implementation of the Pay Revision Commission (PRC) report on Friday, despite the fact that government employees have opted to go on strike starting February 7 to protest the 23percent pay hike.
Despite persistent protests by employees who allege that new pay scales will result in a reduction of their current salary, the Cabinet meeting led over by Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy gave its approval to implement Government Order (GO) relating to PRC.
After the Cabinet meeting, Information and Public Relations Minister Perni Nani informed reporters that the administration is willing to negotiate with workers unions about the matter. He remarked that criticising the Chief Minister will not help the employees' difficulties, referring to statements made by some union leaders.
Government employees' retirement age will be raised from 60 to 62 years old, according to the Cabinet.It also agreed to offer jobs to the families of government employees who died as a result of Covid-19.
Government personnel would be given 10percent of the houses in Jagananna smart townships, according to the Cabinet.Employees' unions, meanwhile, resolved on Friday to go on strike from February 7 to protest the government's wage revision and demand a reversal of the GO.
