Panaji: The Curlies Club located on Goa's Anjuna Beach has gotten a big relief from the Supreme Court. Actually, the court has banned the demolition of Curlies Restaurant and NightClub. Let me tell you that this is the same Curlies Club, in which BJP leader Sonali Phogat was given drugs during the party before her death. Before the Supreme Court order, the Goa administration had come to demolish it on Friday with three bulldozers.

The process of demolishing the club had also begun, following which the apex court was approached by the club's owner. A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice (CJI) UU Lalit granted relief to the Curlies club and restrained it from bulldozing plot 42/10. However, the court has not stayed the action altogether. The court has clarified that illegal construction can be demolished. Sonali Phogat died in Goa on August 22-23. Following this, the Goa administration decided to demolish the club on the orders of the NGT. However, there was a demand for an urgent hearing in the Supreme Court to stay the action on behalf of the club.

Advocate Huzaifa Ahmadi, appearing for the club in the apex court, had challenged the NGT order. He had said that no one had appeared on behalf of the other side and the NGT ordered the demolition of the restaurant. In such a situation, the Supreme Court stayed the demolition of the club.
