Jaipur: Rajasthan's first Vande Bharat train was flagged off by PM Narendra Modi through video conferencing. During this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the modern Vande Bharat train will play an important role in speeding up Rajasthan. I want to express special gratitude to Gehlot ji for going through crises. Even after this, he has taken out time for development work. Participated in a railroad programme. I welcome and congratulate him. Mr. Gehlot, you have laddoos in each of your hands. Your railway minister is from Rajasthan. The chairman of the Railway Board is also from Rajasthan. The work that should have been done immediately after independence has not been done till now. You have so much faith in me that you have placed that work in front of me as well. I thank him for the trust he has placed in me as a friend. Prime Minister Modi flagged off the Vande Bharat train through video conferencing.
Along with this, PM Narendra Modi, while accusing the railway recruitments of 'politics and corruption' during the tenure of the previous governments, said on Wednesday that it is the country's misfortune that the railways have been made an arena of politics. Modi said that the situation on the railways started changing after 2014, when the people of the country formed a stable government at the centre. He said that, seeing the transformation of Indian Railways, every Indian is proud today. Modi said, 'It has been the misfortune of our country that an important system like the railways, which is such a big part of normal human life, was also made an arena of politics. After independence, India had a large railway network. But the modernization of railroads has always been dominated by political interests.
PM Modi said that out of political interest, it was decided who would become railway minister, who would not, and which train would run at which station. He said that it was political selfishness that got such trains announced in the budget, which never ran. The PM said, 'The situation was such that there was politics in railroad recruitments, and corruption was rampant. By taking away the land of the poor, they were given the bluff of a job in the railways.'
