Tirupati Balaji Temple is dedicated to Venkateshwara or Balaji, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. This temple is located on the Tirumala hill in Andhra Pradesh, which is also known as the Venkat hill with seven peaks. This place is considered very religious and sacred, where millions of devotees come to visit every year.

Story of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi: According to mythology, when the Gods and Demons churned the ocean, Goddess Lakshmi emerged from it along with many gems. Due to her beauty and charm, all the Gods, Demons and humans wanted to marry her, but Goddess Lakshmi chose Lord Vishnu as her husband and garlanded him. Vishnu Ji gave Goddess Lakshmi a place in his chest, but not in his heart. It is believed that Vishnu Ji's heart was responsible for the maintenance of the world and there should not be any kind of disturbance in it, so Lakshmi Ji got a place on the chest.

Bhrigu Rishi's anger and Vishnu's patience: According to another legend, Bhrigu Rishi once got angry and kicked Lord Vishnu on his chest. Vishnu tolerated it and apologized by holding the sage's feet. This angered Lakshmi and she left Vishnu. Later, Vishnu was born on earth as Srinivas and Lakshmi was born as Padmavati. Both got married, and Bhrigu Rishi came and apologized to Lakshmi.

Borrowing from Kubera and contribution of devotees: During the marriage, Vishnuji borrowed money from Kubera, which he promised to repay with interest by the end of Kali Yuga. It is said that whenever devotees donate something at Tirupati Balaji, they contribute towards repaying this debt of Lord Vishnu. This is the reason why Lord Balaji never returns his devotees empty-handed.

Seven Hills of Tirumala: The seven peaks of Tirumala hill are considered to be the symbol of the hood of Adi Sesha Naga. The names of these peaks are Sheshadri, Neeladri, Garudadri, Anjanadri, Vrishabhadri, Narayanadri and Venkatadri. This is the place where the famous temple of Lord Venkateshwara or Balaji is situated.

Meaning of the name 'Balaji': The name 'Balaji' is derived from 'Bal' (young man) and 'Aaji' (lord), which means 'young lord'. This name refers to a special form of Lord Vishnu, which reveals his youthful and approachable form.
