New Delhi: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is busy giving a power booster dose to overcome the economic slowdown in the country. The Finance Minister will hold a press conference at 10 am before the 37th important meeting of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council to be held in Goa today. As of now, no information has been given about on which issue the press conference will take place, but it is understood that there may be a big announcement to give a boost to the economy.
According to PTI sources, the GST Council is expected to brainstorm on the proposal to link the new GST registration with Aadhaar and conduct a quarterly review of the cases in the National Anti-profiteering Authority (NAA). The press talks usually take place after the meeting, but in the press talks that take place before the GST Council meeting, the Finance Minister can make a big announcement on other issues.
It was learned last week that the Finance Ministry is working on some other proposals very fast.
