GOA: Pramod Sawant, the chief minister of Goa, said on Friday that the state is attempting to grow the movie industry and cinema tradition.

In his speech at the beginning of the Marathi Film Festival, he said: "For the past 18 years, we have been celebrating the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) pageant in Goa. Goa's beautiful scenery makes it a popular location for Hindi and Marathi filming. The IFFI may lead to the emergence of a Goan movie tradition. Our efforts are intended to advance the film industry. We promote Konkani and Marathi films. We are going to develop the movie tradition if we get assistance from all of you. Many actors have come from Goa into the film industry.

Sawant said that the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) is working to develop the movie tradition in Goa.
The Marathi film "Taath Kana," which tells the life story of renowned neuro-spinal surgeon and novelist Dr. Premanand S. Ramani, will likely be screened on Saturday.

Regarding Ramani, Sawant recommended that young people read his book ("Taath Kana") and saw the film based on his life story. He said, " “He offers us inspiration,” he said.
