New Delhi: The textbook on the Indian Knowledge System will be launched by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Monday, May 16, according to the AICTE. B Mahadevan, an IIM Bangalore professor, wrote the textbook on Indian Knowledge System in collaboration with SVYASA, Bangalore, and Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth, Ernakulam.
"We are delighted to inform you that the IKS Division, in collaboration with AICTE, will launch this textbook on the auspicious day of Buddha purnima, May 16, 2022, from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. in the AICTE Auditorium." The Honourable Education Minister, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan ji, has graciously agreed to launch this textbook on the Indian Knowledge System in the august presence of the author and co-authors, as well as several senior dignitaries," the AICTE stated.
In 2018, the technical education body, the All India Council For Technical Education (AICTE), added an Indian Knowledge Systems (lKS) course to its model curriculum. AICTE noted that there was no credible textbook on IKS at the time. The Ministry of Education accepted a project proposal from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore in February 2020 titled "Curriculum Development and Preparation of Textbook for a course on Indian Knowledge System." B Mahadevan, an IIM Bangalore professor, has developed a textbook on the Indian Knowledge System (lKS) in collaboration with SVYASA, Bangalore, and Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth, Ernakulam. The book is intended to be used as the principal reference resource for teaching Universal Human Values and Indian Knowledge System courses, which are included in the model curriculum, AICTE said.
The AICTE has also requested that institutes designate two to three faculty members, as well as 20 to 30 students from their colleges, to attend the textbook's launch event. The author B Mahadevan will do a special book-signing ceremony.
