The Magic of Shiri, a new drama series, has had its premiere date pushed back amid rumours that the Jain community has expressed opposition to it. The show, which features Divyanka Tripathi and Jaaved Jafferi in the major roles, was initially scheduled to have its digital debut on JioCinema on July 13. The revised release date has not yet been made public.
The Magic of Shiri was supposed to premiere on JioCinemas today (July 13), however it appears that the show has been delayed due to problems. Although the precise cause is still unknown, When asked about the delay and when we may see the show online, Divyanka responded, "A lot of hard work has gone into the project from the entire team. Ofcourse no intention was to hurt any sentiments. I hope we find a solution."
Divyanka uploaded a banner on Instagram with the caption, "The release has been delayed," as announcing the delay. “Mehermaan Kadardan sahiban, taiyar ho jaiye hone ko hairaan. Batani hai aap sabko ek dil ki baat, Shiri milne aegi ab ek naye din aur ek nayi tareekh ke saath. Bus kuch aur doni ka karna hoga aap sabklo intezar. Hum hain aapke sabra ke liye shukra guzaar (Get ready to be surprised one and all! Shiri will now meet you on a new date and time. You will have to wait a few days, and we are grateful for your patience).”
Along with the poster, she wrote in her caption, “Show date postponed. Stay tuned for further updates! We’ll be back soon with Shiri…"
Divyanka had previously spoken openly about the part and the web series, saying, "Playing Shiri has been a truly rewarding experience. It has reminded me of the indomitable spirit we all possess, the courage to follow our dreams, and the transformative power of embracing our true selves. Through 'The Magic of Shiri,' we aim to inspire and uplift viewers, showcasing that even in the midst of chaos, there is always room for magic and wonder. It's a heartfelt narrative that celebrates the human spirit and the incredible strength that lies within each of us only if we believe in it."
The show, which was directed by Birsa Dasgupta, also stars Parmeet Sethi, Namit Das, Darshan Zareewala, and Neelu Kohli. Produced by Tanveer Bookwala and Jyoti Deshpande, it is presented by Jio Studios. The Magic of Shiri tells the tale of Shiri Shah (Divyanka), who made many sacrifices to wed her Jain spouse but subsequently made the decision to follow her aspirations.
