TRIPURA: As per the  Draft Electoral Roll, which was released on Wednesday, Tripura has 27,33,891 voters in 60 Assembly constituencies.

Tripura will hold elections for its legislature early in 2019. Tripura has 27,33,891 registered voters, of which 13,80,181 are men, 13,53,664 are women, and 46 are third gender. '' Claims and objections will be accepted following the release of the draught electoral rolls until December 8; a special election will be held on November 19, 20, and December 3 and 4.

The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Kiran Gitte, announced during a press conference that the claim and objection pertaining to the draught rolls will be resolved on December 26. He declared that on January 1, 2023, the definitive electoral rolls for the upcoming Assembly election would be created. The final rolls will be released on January 5, 2023, according to the CEO.

The draught electoral rolls will be available for modification in all 3,328 polling places as well as Tehsil and SDM offices. According to him, the SDMs were instructed to hold special camps in each degree-granting institution to register eligible voters.

He added that he had already met with the political parties to receive comments on the election preparation. The emphasis would be on creating error-free electoral rolls in order to conduct the election in a free and fair way.
The CEO said that one-phase elections have been taking place in the northeastern state.

Elections are held in Tripura in two phases during the second half of March. Hopefully, this time won't be any different. Due to the deployment of security personnel, one of the three states (Tripura, Meghalaya, and Nagaland) is anticipated to hold elections first. After the state's election is over, the additional forces that will be present in Tripura would go to Meghalaya or Nagaland, he said.

Gitte responded to claims made by the opposition parties on the law and order situation by saying that the election department is closely monitoring it to maintain calm since draught electoral rolls have already been issued.

The CEO said, a delegation from the Election Commission is likely to visit the state in the upcoming 10 to 15 days to oversee election preparations, including the roll revision procedure.
