NEW DELHI: Delhi University (DU) has achieved a notable milestone with over 65,800 students securing admission to undergraduate (UG) courses in the first round of the admission process. This marks an impressive 91.98% of the available seats being filled.
Out of a total of approximately 71,600 undergraduate seats across DU's colleges, 83,678 candidates accepted their allocated seats. Among them, 65,483 have confirmed their admission by completing the necessary formalities.
As of midnight on August 21, 2024, 43,515 candidates have opted to upgrade their choice of college or course, while 18,478 have decided to maintain their current admission status.
The university began the seat allocation process on Friday, offering a total of 97,387 seats in this initial round. To maximize seat utilization, the university had planned additional allocations, aiming to commence the academic session on August 29.
Haneet Gandhi, DU's Dean of Admissions, shared an update: "By submitting their fees, 65,483 candidates have confirmed their admission seats."
DU's admission process covers 71,600 seats (excluding supernumerary seats) across 69 colleges and departments, with a total of 1,559 program-college combinations available.
During Phase I of the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS(UG)), 2,45,287 candidates applied. Out of these, 1,85,543 completed Phase II by submitting their preferences for program-college combinations. The university received a total of 1,72,18,187 preferences.
This year, DU has introduced a new feature on the candidates' dashboard, allowing them to view cutoff details and ranks affecting seat allocation based on categories and quotas.
