New Delhi: Delhi High Court has refused interim relief to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Amanatullah Khan. Khan had in March this year challenged the opening of the history sheet against him. In this, Amanatullah's character was declared bad character by Delhi Police. In this regard, after the hearing on Wednesday (June 1, 2022), the court has also called for a reply from Delhi Police.

The next hearing of the case will be on July 28. According to media reports, the AAP MLA's lawyer Sufiyan Siddiqui said that opening the history sheet by the Delhi Police is a misuse of the legal process. He told the court, "The Delhi Police maliciously circulated the information about the action taken against Amanatullah Khan directly in the media. This brought bad names to the MLA and his family members. After hearing the arguments of Amanatullah's lawyer, Justice Sudhir Kumar Jain directed the Delhi Police to file a status report. In a tweet on June 1, Amanatullah Khan wrote, "The High Court today issued a notice to the Delhi Police seeking a response on the petition filed by me in the Delhi High Court against the attempt made by the Delhi Police to defame me by declaring me as a bad character (BC).''
During the anti-encroachment drive being run by the MCD at Shaheen Bagh and Madanpur Khadar, Amanatullah Khan created a ruckus. The policemen alleged that they were also stoned during the commotion. The police had registered a case making Amanatullah Khan the main accused. The MLA was also arrested. He was later granted bail by the Saket court. After this, the Delhi Police had declared Amanatullah Khan as BC (Bad Character) on the charge of obstructing government work.
