NEW DELHI: Around 76% of students appeared for the Common University Entrance Test - Undergraduate (CUET-UG) 2023 across India on Tuesday, May 23, morning.

In many cities, the national testing agency has taken assistance from the traffic police to minimise traffic jams around the centres.

May 23 is the third day of the exams which are being conducted in 234 cities and 283 centres. The first shift of the examination got underway at 8.30 a.m. The cumulative number of candidates scheduled in shift -first  were  reportedly 20,503

With a total of 74342 candidates, the First Shift exams were held in 261 cities and 415 venues, with a 74% attendance rate. For the 58,338 students, shift 2 was planned in 264 cities and 386 centres. During this second shift, attendance was tracked at 79%. Exams for shift 3 were given in 450 centres and 262 cities. According to Kumar, there were 91,895 candidates in shift three, and 75% of them showed up.

The attendance on Monday was almost 76 percent, a major improvement over the previous year.

The UGC reported that on Monday, the exam started later than expected in only 4 out of 450 centres but was nonetheless successfully finished. In certain testing locations, power fluctuations caused the exam to start late, while student admission delays were the cause in other locations.
