NEW DELHI: The first and second shift examinations of the 4th phase of the CUET (UG) entrance test held on August 17 were cancelled for 13 centres, affecting 8,693 candidates. The new date for the exams will be announced on today, August 18. However, the proposed date for the examinations is August 25.
According to UGC Chairman Professor M. Jagadesh Kumar, the exam was given to 1,45,885 applicants on Wednesday in two shifts. At 13 centres, shift 1 and shift 2 exams were postponed due to unavoidable technological issues. Delhi had 25,131 students, followed by Uttar Pradesh with 44033 hopefuls, out of the total 1,45,885 applicants in both shifts.
The examinations were conducted in one center each in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Daman and Diu, Goa, Leh, Ladakh, Manipur, Mizoram, Puducherry and Tripura.
The entrance test was given in 245 cities, including rural ones like Navsari, Itanagar, Barpeta, Nalbari, Araria, Arrah, Begusarai, and Bettiah. Other cities that took part in the entrance test were Bhabua, Buxar, Jammu, Samastipur, Bilaspur, Deoghar, Kargil, Leh, Morena, Behrampur, Bhadrak, Jajpur (Uttarakhand).
The fourth phase of the CUET (UG) will take place on Thursday and Friday apart from Wednesday. The candidates for these exams received their admit cards last week. 3.72 lakh students will take the exam in its entirety in the fourth phase. Approximately 6.31 lakh students have taken the CUET (UG) exams so far.
Admissions will be made to undergraduate programmes at 91 universities overall, including all of the nation's core universities, using the CUET (UG). These tests are being given in order to admit students to the first year.
On July 15, the CUET UG examinations' first phase began. These tests will go on through August 30.
