Lucknow: Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA and former minister Azam Khan has suffered a major setback today i.e. on Thursday. Azam Khan has been convicted in the case of inflammatory speech. After 3 o'clock, the court will announce his sentence. Azam Khan has been taken into custody as soon as he is convicted in court. A case was registered against Azam under three sections. He has been found guilty in all three cases.
During the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, a case was registered against Azam Khan for making inflammatory speeches. If Azam gets a sentence of more than two years, his legislature will also be lost. Earlier, Azam Khan had given an application to postpone the date of the decision. On his behalf, it was said that the matter is sub judice in the High Court. Therefore, the date of the decision should be extended. But the court had rejected his argument. The case was registered at Milak Kotwali for making inflammatory speeches during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
