The uproar in Maharashtra following the collapse of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's statue in Sindhudurg shows no signs of abating. Opposition leaders have relentlessly criticized the state government in the wake of the incident.

In response, the government acted swiftly, filing an FIR against the sculptor and those responsible for the statue's maintenance. Additionally, an inquiry committee was established, and Chief Minister Eknath Shinde promised to erect a new statue at the same location. Despite these measures, the incident has become a focal point for political maneuvering in Maharashtra. The opposition's actions are perceived as an attempt to exploit the situation to further their own agenda by inciting communal tensions.

Opposition leaders, including Vijay Wadettiwar, Ambadas Danve, Jayant Patil, Satej Patil, and Aditya Thackeray, visited the Sindhudurg site following the incident and criticized the government's handling of the situation. They also shared images of the fallen statue on social media, which was seen as an effort to stir religious discord.

Critics point out that these leaders did not visit the site before the statue's collapse but convened in Rajkot afterward. Allegations have surfaced that they misbehaved with MP Narayan Rane and his staff while waving party flags at the fort. This behavior is viewed as a political tactic to garner support and foster division among communities.

Serious allegations have been leveled against opposition leaders, including NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar, Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole, and Shiv Sena (Uttar Pradesh) leader Uddhav Thackeray. They have been criticized for focusing on caste issues and making derogatory remarks about Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The opposition leaders are accused of trying to incite communal unrest and create divisions within the state.

The opposition has also faced criticism for failing to rename Aurangabad, a city named after Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. They are accused of favoring the Mughals while neglecting the legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

The actions of these leaders are being interpreted as an attempt to create a situation in Maharashtra similar to that of Bangladesh. They are accused of undermining Shivaji Maharaj's legacy for political advantage. Sharad Pawar, in particular, faces criticism for allegedly creating rifts between Brahmins and non-Brahmins for political gain.
