The Congress Working Committee (CWC) has scheduled a crucial meeting on June 8th to analyze the results of the recent Lok Sabha elections. Chaired by Mallikarjun Kharge, the meeting will take place at the Congress headquarters. Key leaders such as Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra are expected to participate.
Following the counting of votes on June 4th, Congress emerged as the second-largest party in the Lok Sabha. The party has significantly increased its tally, now standing at 99 seats, up from 52 in the 2019 elections.
The CWC meeting, called by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, will commence at 11 am on Saturday. Sources within the party have indicated that the main agenda will be a comprehensive review of the election results and their implications.
This marks a significant development for Congress, as it will reclaim the Leader of Opposition's position in the Lok Sabha after a gap of 10 years. Previously, the party had been unable to secure this role due to its failure to meet the required 10% threshold of total seats in the House, both in the 2014 and 2019 elections.
Apart from the prominent Gandhis—Sonia, Rahul, and Priyanka—other senior leaders of the party will also be participating in the discussions.
