Thiruvananthapuram: Amidst growing controversy surrounding the concept of 'One Nation, One Election,' Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has strongly criticized the Central government. He asserts that this initiative is part of a broader agenda aimed at consolidating unchecked power at the federal level.

In an official statement, the Chief Minister expressed deep concerns about the potential threat to India's identity and its parliamentary democracy. He believes that the 'One Nation, One Election' slogan, championed by the Sangh Parivar, exacerbates this threat.

According to Vijayan, there appears to be a hidden agenda to centralize power by undermining the country's federal system. Additionally, it seeks to undermine state governments that resist complying with the dictates of the Central government, with the ultimate goal of seizing power in these states through unconventional means.

Vijayan also highlighted the potential impact on the Rajya Sabha, a crucial component of India's parliamentary system. He emphasized that staggered assembly elections play a vital role in renewing the composition of various political parties in the Rajya Sabha over time.

Furthermore, the Chief Minister suggested that the push for simultaneous Lok Sabha and assembly elections is driven by the fear of defeat in the upcoming state assembly elections.
