Bhopal: The Shivraj government in Madhya Pradesh does not want to rush into opening schools. CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan will hold discussions with chief ministers of other states on the decision to open schools. At the same time, union ministers related to school education will also be consulted in the matter. The government will also discuss with officials and experts the decision to open schools with it. A decision on opening schools in the state will be taken only after most advice.

The state government has now decided that schools will not be opened from July 1. The decision comes in the wake of a possible third wave of corona virus. Schools in Madhya Pradesh have been closed for the past one and a half years. Only online studies have been taking place for a year and a half. The Department of School Education believes that online classes are not a good option for the intellectual and physical development of children. It may be recalled that the Shivraj government had recently sanctioned Rs. 6,952 crore for setting up 350 schools with facilities including 'smart classes'.

State Home Minister and state government spokesperson Narottam Mishra had said that the Cabinet has given the green signal to a proposal of Rs 6,952 crore for setting up 350 schools with facilities including smart classrooms. He said that students living within a radius of 15 km of the school will get the benefit. 350 such schools will be opened in the first phase in the state while a total of 9,200 such schools are planned to be opened in a phased manner.
