New Delhi: On Thursday, senior Congressman P Chidambaram criticised the Centre for the over 10,000 vacant teaching posts at central universities, IITs, and IIMs, calling it "another year-end gift from the Modi government."
In a written response to a question in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday, Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan revealed that 6,535 full-time teaching seats were vacant in government institutions, 403 in IIMs, and 3,876 in IITs.
Chidambaram slammed the administration, saying, "Another year-end gift from the Modi government: federal institutions, IITs, and IIMs have over 10,000 teaching positions open. 4126 of these are designated for Schedule Caste, Schedule Tribes, and Other Backward Class people."
