The incident of rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata has shaken the whole country. There is a lot of anger among the people about this painful incident and everyone wants that the culprits should get severe punishment as soon as possible. Bollywood stars are also expressing their anger in this matter. In this episode, actress Celina Jaitley has also shared some bitter experiences related to her life. She wrote a long post on Instagram and also shared a photo of her school days.
Celina Jaitley wrote in her post that when she was in 6th class, boys from the nearby university used to stand outside her school. They used to chase her school rickshaw and whistle. Celina said that she used to pretend that she did not understand anything, but inside she was scared. After a few days, those boys started throwing stones at her to get her attention. Despite all this, no one passing by paid any attention to it.
Selina further said that one of her teachers blamed her for this incident. The teacher said that all this was happening because Selina lived in a very Western style, did not wear loose clothes, and did not apply oil to her hair and make two plaits. During this time, another incident happened when one morning while going to school, a man showed his private parts to her. Selina blamed herself for this incident and kept repeating the teacher's words in her mind that all this was her fault.
When Celina was in 11th class, those boys cut the brake wires off her scooty. The reason for this was that Celina was ignoring the boys who used to harass her and call her dirty names. These boys used to leave obscene notes on her scooty. When the boys in her class told the teachers about this, the teacher again blamed them. The teacher said that Celina is a forward type of girl, she drives a scooter, goes to extra classes wearing jeans, and keeps her hair open, so the boys think that her character is loose.
Selina said that she still remembers the day when she jumped off the scooter to save her life because the brake wires were cut. She was badly injured, but even then she was blamed for the fault. Her maternal grandfather, who was a retired colonel and had fought two wars for the country, used to drop her to school and bring her back. But those boys did not stop following her even after damaging her scooty. They would also make fun of her maternal grandfather and make comments on him.
At the end of her post, Selina said that now the time has come for us to stand up and protect our rights. We don't believe that it is our fault; we should raise our voices for our safety. She asked how many girls agreed with this. This post of Selina has once again highlighted the issue of women's safety and their rights in society. This incident forces us to think that when girls will continue to be blamed for their safety.
