As Jharkhand gears up for the assembly elections, political activity has reached a fever pitch. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched a critical election campaign named "Mila Kya," (What did You Get) aimed at scrutinizing the performance of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) government led by Chief Minister Hemant Soren. This campaign focuses on the disparity between the promises made and the results achieved during Soren's tenure.

The BJP’s "Mila Kya" campaign seeks to underscore the gaps between the JMM government’s election pledges and their actual outcomes. By spotlighting unmet promises, the BJP aims to question the effectiveness of the current administration and reveal areas where expectations have fallen short.

Key Focus Areas of the 'Mila Kya' Campaign

Youth Employment: One of the major promises was to create 100,000 jobs for the youth within the first year of Soren’s government. The BJP highlights that this goal remains largely unmet, with many young people still grappling with unemployment. This aspect of the campaign aims to emphasize the lack of job creation and its impact on the youth’s future.

Farm Loan Waiver: Soren promised to waive farm loans up to Rs.2 lakh. However, the BJP points out that only Rs.50,000 in relief has been provided so far, casting doubt on the government's commitment to alleviating the financial burdens on farmers.

Free Education and Healthcare: The campaign also scrutinizes the promise of free education and healthcare for all. While some initiatives have been introduced, the BJP argues that they fall short of the comprehensive coverage initially promised.

Industrial Development: The campaign criticizes the lack of progress in industrial development and attracting major industries to Jharkhand. The BJP claims that the state has missed out on significant economic growth and job creation opportunities due to insufficient progress in this area.

Corruption-Free Governance: The BJP aims to highlight ongoing allegations of corruption under the current administration, questioning the government's commitment to transparency and integrity.

Land Law Amendment: The campaign examines Soren’s opposition to amendments in land laws intended to permit commercial use of tribal land. The BJP argues that unresolved issues regarding land rights continue to create uncertainty.

Alcohol Ban: Although a partial alcohol ban has been implemented in certain areas, the BJP criticizes the government for failing to fully enforce this promise.

CBI Probe into Starvation Deaths: The BJP notes the lack of significant progress on the promise to initiate a CBI probe into starvation deaths in the state.

More Promises Under Scrutiny:

  • Annual income of Rs.72,000 for poor families
  • Rs.50,000 loans to women via Aadhaar
  • Establishment of cold storage facilities in every Panchayat
  • Gold coins for newly married brides
  • Financial support for poor widows
  • Rs.2,000 monthly allowance for married sisters
  • Public Response and BJP’s Strategy
  • The BJP’s "Mila Kya" campaign is resonating strongly with the public, who have expressed frustration over unmet promises related to job creation, farm loan relief, and infrastructure development. This public support is a crucial element of the BJP’s strategy, reflecting widespread disappointment among voters.

By highlighting these issues, the BJP aims to position itself as a credible alternative to the JMM government, promising to address the unmet needs and resolve the identified gaps. The campaign’s success will hinge on its ability to connect with voters and offer a compelling vision for overcoming the state’s challenges.
