BELAGAVI: Some unidentified people shouted "Pakistan Zindabad" outside a counting site in Tilakvadi, Belagavi, as the Congress claimed a "massive victory" against the BJP in the Karnataka Assembly elections.

As per Indian media reports, those who shouted pro-Pakistan slogans were allegedly supporters of the grand old party.

When Congress candidates defeated the saffron party, there was an altercation at the Tilakvadi police station when some "excited" supporters yelled "anti-national" sentiments.

Hindu organisations staged a protest outside the police station in the meantime as the video gained popularity on social media sites, calling for stern action against the offenders. Police have opened an investigation and filed a FIR under IPC section 153 against the unnamed individuals.

It is important to note that the Congress won the 224-member Karnataka Assembly by securing 135 seats, according to the Indian Election Commission. The EC website reports that the BJP won 65 seats and the JD(S) 19 seats.

Meanwhile, Congress leader Asif (Raju) Sait has clarified that the video of some youth raising slogans in favour of Pakistan in Belagavi is doctored, said as follows:-“It is a fake video. I have got it fact-checked. Miscreants have added voice bites to the video to make it sound as if some youth are chanting ‘Pakistan Zindabad’. I urge the people not to believe in such propaganda, adding that itt is unfortunate that my opponents are circulating this video to tarnish my image, he said.
