New Delhi: Bhim Sena chief Nawab Satpal Tanwar, who announced a reward of Rs 1 crore for cutting off Nupur Sharma's tongue and threatened to get him mujra in front of everyone, has got relief from a Delhi court. Nawab has been granted bail by the court. Police had said That Tanwar had released a video in which he announced a reward on Nupur Sharma and tried to disturb communal harmony.
In its order on June 19, the court has also said that an FIR was lodged against The Nawab in a "hurry", where the case was first registered and then the alleged inflammatory video was analysed. Duty Metropolitan Magistrate Dev Saroha said, "Even after being asked, the investigating officer (IO) failed to explain why there was such a hurry to lodge an FIR when he had not even seen the video. The court also said that the IO ignored the rules in the arrest of the accused.
The court also took cognizance of the health of the accused and his admission to the hospital after his arrest. The court also said that the accused being a member of the Bhim Army is not relevant in the judgement on the bail plea as it is not a banned organisation. While granting bail to Satpal on a bond of Rs 50,000, the judge said, "In view of these facts and circumstances, Satpal Tanwar is eligible for bail on the condition that he should fully cooperate with the investigating officer whenever he is fit for the investigation." The court asked the accused to appear before it during the summons of the IO and the court hearing. The judge asked the accused not to do such a thing again and not leave the country without the permission of the court.
