Jaipur: There has been a lot of ruckus regarding the election of the National President of Congress. Meanwhile, Rajasthan CM and senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot has made a big announcement. He has said that I have taken the decision that I will contest for the post of Congress President. I will soon appoint the date (for filing nominations) regarding this. The opposition needs to be strengthened, so I have taken this decision.

Let us inform you that the notification for the election of the Congress President has been issued. The filing of nominations will take place from September 24 to 30. The last date for withdrawal of nominations is October 8. Whereas, the results will be declared on October 19. Voting will be held on October 17 if there is more than one candidate. Earlier, Rahul Gandhi had indicated that Ashok Gehlot, who is in the race for the post of Congress President, will not be able to hold two posts if he wins the election. According to reports, Ashok Gehlot's rival Sachin Pilot may get a bigger responsibility inside Congress.

Ashok Gehlot can become Congress President:-

Let us tell you that even after being persuaded by many Congress leaders like Ashok Gehlot, Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi is not agreeing to accept back the post of President. After the humiliating defeat of the Congress in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Rahul resigned from the post of President. After which Sonia Gandhi took over as the interim president of the party. Now there is a discussion in the political corridors that if Rahul agrees even at the last minute, then the party chief's chair can go to him only. Some political pundits are also saying that Shashi Tharoor is a good option, but he will not become a remote president, so Gandhi family can hand over this post to Ashok Gehlot if Rahul does not agree. This is because Ashok Gehlot is considered a loyalist of the Gandhi family. Leaders like Kapil Sibal, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Shashi Tharoor have been raising the demand for organizational change in the Congress, but every time Gehlot is seen standing with the Gandhi family. In such a situation, by handing over the command of the Congress in his hands, in a way the entire reins will remain in the hands of the Gandhi family. Simply the Gandhi family can make Ashok Gehlot the next Manmohan Singh.
