In the ongoing Delhi Excise Policy case, the Rouse Avenue Court has decided to extend Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's judicial custody until September 3. This decision comes in relation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) case concerning the now-defunct Delhi liquor excise policy for 2021-22.
Additionally, the court has postponed its ruling on the fourth supplementary chargesheet submitted by the CBI, which names Kejriwal as one of the six accused. The court has scheduled the next hearing for September 3.
In a related news development, The Supreme Court has also granted bail to K Kavitha, a member of the Bharatiya Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and the daughter of former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. Kavitha, who has been in custody since March 15, was granted bail in connection with the Delhi excise policy case.
During Tuesday’s hearing, the Supreme Court expressed concerns about the investigation's handling by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Justices B.R. Gavai and K.V. Viswanathan questioned the agencies about the evidence linking Kavitha to the alleged scam.
