César Award winners Ella Rumpf and Louis Garrel are set to star alongside Angelina Jolie in the upcoming film Stitches, directed by Alice Winocour. This marks Winocour's first English-language project.
In addition to Rumpf and Garrel, the film also stars Anyier Anei, Garance Marillier, and Finnegan Oldfield, according to exclusive reports.
Stitches tells the story of Maxine, an American filmmaker portrayed by Jolie, as she embarks on a "life and death journey" during Paris Fashion Week. The film is currently being shot in Paris.
The production team behind the film includes cinematographer Andre Chemetoff, costume designer Pascaline Chavanne, and production designer Florian Sanson. The film is produced by Charles Gillibert of CG Cinéma, along with Zhang Xin and William Horberg from Closer Media, with Bob Xu as executive producer. Pathé Films, who previously worked with Winocour on Revoir Paris, is handling the film’s distribution in France.
Stitches is financed through UTA Independent Film Group, who also represent the global and North American distribution rights. HanWay Films is managing international sales. Co-produced by Chanel and France 3 Cinéma, the film has also received funding from La Région Île-de-France, Canal+, Ciné+, OCS, and France Télévisions.
Winocour is represented by UTA and UBBA, while Jolie is represented by WME and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole.
Jolie’s recent project, Maria, has garnered attention for her portrayal of opera legend Maria Callas. The film, directed by Pablo Larraín, focuses on the final days of the singer’s life before her death in 1977. Maria premiered at the Venice Film Festival. At the Los Angeles premiere in October, Jolie shared an emotional moment recalling her first singing lessons for the role, describing how deeply personal and moving the experience was for her.
