Aligarh: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has urged the people of Uttar Pradesh to cast their votes for the BJP across all 80 seats in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He stated that this gesture would serve as a fitting tribute to the late Kalyan Singh, a revered figure within the party.
Addressing a gathering in Aligarh on the second anniversary of Kalyan Singh's passing, Amit Shah, speaking in honor of the prominent OBC leader and former Chief Minister, expressed, "May the lotus, symbolizing the BJP, blossom victoriously on all 80 seats in UP during the 2024 elections, thus becoming a true homage to Babuji."
In honor of the former Chief Minister, whose birthplace was Aligarh and who passed away on August 21, 2021, in Lucknow, the BJP has organized the 'Hindu Gaurav Diwas' event in Aligarh.
Kalyan Singh served as the Chief Minister during the time of the 1992 Babri Masjid demolition.
Amit Shah criticized the previous Congress administration in the state for obstructing and diverting the progress of the Ram Temple construction in Ayodhya since India's independence. In contrast, he noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not delay the groundbreaking ceremony (Bhoomi Pujan) of the temple.
Shah elaborated, "Today, I am here to pay my respects to a senior BJP leader, a devoted follower of Lord Ram, an individual who pioneered the betterment of the marginalized."
He revealed that Kalyan Singh had shared with him that he had achieved his life's purpose the day the foundation stone for the Ram Temple was laid. "I was in the hospital due to COVID-19 that day when Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of Shri Ram Mandir. I called Babu Ji, and he informed me that his lifelong goal had been fulfilled," stated the Union Minister during his address.
"Kalyan Singh 'Babuji' was dedicated to three objectives. First, expediting the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi movement; second, uplifting the impoverished; and third, advancing the interests of the backward communities while maintaining social harmony," Shah detailed.
"Since the time of India's independence, the Congress party had obstructed and diverted the matter of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi. However, after the court's verdict on the issue, PM Modi promptly conducted the Bhoomi Pujan for the Ram Temple," Shah emphasized.
Praising Prime Minister Modi's efforts, the Union Minister celebrated, "Today, under Prime Minister Modi's leadership, we rejoice that in the early months of 2024, we will witness Lord Ram seated in his majestic temple, ending a 550-year wait."
The event saw the presence of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, along with the BJP state unit chief Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary.
