Hyderabad: Asaduddin Owaisi, the leader of AIMIM, emphasized the necessity of a 'third government' (neither BJP nor Congress) to take charge of the country. He openly criticized the I.N.D.I.A bloc, a collection of opposition parties led by Congress, referring to it as a 'bade chaudhriyon ka club' (a club of elites) that 'abuses us' (AIMIM). Owaisi expressed his stance during a press conference, stating that the I.N.D.I.A bloc is not a viable alternative. He highlighted that the Congress had governed the nation for nearly 50 years, while the BJP has been in power for around 18 years. According to Owaisi, it's time for a fresh third government.
The I.N.D.I.A bloc, consisting of 26 opposition parties, has united to challenge the ruling BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections scheduled for April-May next year. When asked about AIMIM potentially joining the alliance, Owaisi asserted, "We will fight our own battle…they are a club of chaudharies (elites). We have nothing to do with them. In fact, they abuse us." Owaisi also pointed out that even prominent politicians like former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati and K Chandrasekhar Rao, Telangana's chief minister, have not joined the I.N.D.I.A bloc.
AIMIM has faced allegations of indirectly benefiting the BJP by contesting in minority-dominated seats, which allegedly divides minority votes, ultimately helping the saffron party. However, Owaisi and his party have consistently dismissed these accusations as 'baseless.' In the upcoming parliamentary elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP will seek a third consecutive term in office.
