The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has extended the deadline for free document uploads on the Aadhaar portal. Initially set to end on September 14, 2024, the new deadline has been pushed to December 14, 2024. After this date, any updates to Aadhaar profiles will incur a fee.
This extension provides additional time for millions of Aadhaar holders to update their demographic details without charge, but only through the myAadhaar portal. UIDAI continues to encourage citizens to ensure that their Aadhaar-linked information is accurate and up-to-date.
To update your Aadhaar details, you can upload documents such as ration cards, voter IDs, domicile certificates, passports, and bank passbooks. These can be submitted via the myAadhaar portal, where users must log in using their Aadhaar number and a one-time password (OTP) sent to their registered mobile number.
UIDAI recommends that Aadhaar holders update their documents at least once every 10 years. If you've received a notification, it's best to update as soon as possible. Updates can be made online or at any Aadhaar Enrolment Centre.
For those who have moved, updating your address is a simple process that can also be completed through the myAadhaar portal or at an Aadhaar Enrolment Centre by submitting valid proof of address (POA). Non-resident Indians (NRIs) can also update their Aadhaar details either online or in person at an Aadhaar Centre when they are in India.
