Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju confirmed the schedule for the first session of the 18th Lok Sabha on Wednesday, detailing the agenda. "The First Session of 18th Lok Sabha is being summoned from 24.6.24 to 3.7.24 for oath/affirmation of newly elected Members, Election of Speaker, President’s Address and discussion thereon. 264th Session of Rajya Sabha will commence on 27.6.24 and conclude on 3.7.24," Rijiju announced on social media.
Agenda for the Session
The initial three days of the session will focus on the swearing-in ceremony of newly elected leaders and the election of the Speaker of the House. President Droupadi Murmu will address a joint sitting of the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha on June 27, outlining the government's roadmap for the upcoming five years.
Rajya Sabha's 264th Session
Simultaneously, the 264th Session of the Rajya Sabha will commence on June 27 and conclude on July 3. Prime Minister Modi is expected to introduce his council of ministers to Parliament following President Murmu's address on June 27.
Parliamentary Debate
The debate on the Motion of Thanks on the President's address is anticipated to be lively, with opposition parties aiming to hold the NDA government accountable on various issues. Prime Minister Modi will respond to this debate in both Houses of Parliament.
