India return to top-100 in new FIFA rankings, Lionel Messi's Argentina lead list

India have reached the top-100 of the FIFA rankings for the first time in 5 years. The Sunil Chhetri team moved up one place in the world rankings after their strong recent performances in the Intercontinental Cup and the SAFF Cup.

India were unbeaten in the SAFF Cup after playing Pakistan, Nepal and Kuwait. India started off the tournament brilliantly with 2 win on a trot and then drew Kuwait 1-1 in an ill-tempered game.

Coming into the championship, India defeated Lebanon 2-0 in the final of the Intercontinental Cup

India head coach Igor Stimac reacted to the news and said that India have to hold their place in the world rankings and better the standards of their play.

I am happy with the news, but we need to cement that position in our next few games, Stimac told ANI in an interview.

India captain Sunil Chhetri has been in riveting form off late and has scored 5 goals from 3 matches at the SAFF Championship

India will take on Lebanon in the semi-final of the competition on July 1.
