Kochi: Zulfikar of Kerala, who was imprisoned in Pakistan's Karachi jail, died on May 21, 2023. Zulfikar was associated with the terrorist organization Islamic State (ISIS). After this connection came to the fore, the family members severed ties with him. But, now they are ready to take his dead body. His body will be handed over to the Indian authorities at the Attari-Wagah border. As per reports, Zulfikar, 48, was a resident of Palakkad district in Kerala. He was arrested by the Pakistani Coast Guard for illegally entering its maritime border. He had lived in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for a long time. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) had found his links with the terrorist organization ISIS. According to media reports, Zulfiqar lived in Abu Dhabi, UAE in the year 2018 with his wife and 2 children. However, after knowing the husband's relationship with ISIS, his wife broke off the relationship. She had returned to India. Other relatives of Zulfikar had also severed all relations with him. However, now his father Abdul Hameed has said that if his body is brought to his home state, they will accept it. Hameed has said that a familiar Inspector of Crime Branch had asked him regarding this. Talking to the media, Zulfikar's brother told that he had not come to Palakkad since 2018. According to the information, the Union Home Ministry has instructed the Home Department of the Government of Kerala to hand over the dead body of Zulfikar to his family members. However, it is not yet clear how Zulfikar reached Pakistan's maritime territory. According to Pakistani officials, he was apprehended along with a group of fishermen. Zulfikar was imprisoned in Karachi jail along with 200 other fishermen from India.
